Selangor hockey players to use new kit till year end
SELANGOR hockey players in all age groups will be wearing a uniform set of jerseys for six tournaments this year.
“We want to create a sense of identity for the players, especially those in the younger age groups,” said SHA secretary P. Kuganeson.
During a sponsorship handover ceremony at the Education Ministry hockey stadium in Jalan Pantai, Kuala Lumpur, recently, Muara Samudera Sdn Bhd director Gurdip Singh said Selangor was the first state team they were sponsoring.
“We are the distributor of the Mercian brand of hockey equipment, so the players will be wearing Selangor colours on Mercian jerseys,” he said.
Selangor players will be wearing the red and yellow jerseys in the following tournaments for the current calendar year: National Under-16, National Under-21/Sukma, National Indoor Open, Razak Cup, National Under-14 and National Indoor Under-14.
SHA president Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal said the sponsorship was another milestone for the game of hockey in Selangor.
“We have a good working relationship with our sponsors and they recognise the potential in our teams and domestic tournaments. We hope the players will not only be proud to wear the state colours and that it will spur them to perform better,” he said.
Besides the jersey, the players will also receive a black training jersey sponsored by Global Specialty International Sdn Bhd.
